The World Bank Group is one of the world¡¯s largest sources of funding and knowledge for developing countries. Our five institutions share a commitment to reducing poverty, increasing shared prosperity, and promoting sustainable development.

Working in over 75 resource-rich countries, the World Bank Extractives Global Unit  has implemented over 400 mandates and services supporting sector reforms and improving the investment climate, and has over  $6.5 billion in lending operations under preparation and implementation.

We facilitate long-term engagement in policy dialogue and secure investment to help countries translate their mineral wealth into suitable economic development that benefits all citizens on a livable planet. This work supports good governance and environmental and social standards, investing in strategic infrastructure and human capital, unlocking private mining investments in environmentally and socially sustainable ways, and facilitating cooperation and trade. The Extractives Global Programmatic Support Umbrella Trust Fund (EGPS) is key to promoting this mandate, with over $100 million in donors¡¯ contributions.

As part of our commitment to fostering collaboration, the World Bank, IFC, and MIGA will engage with African mining ministers, industry CEOs, development partners, and key organizations at Mining Indaba 2025. Together, we aim to drive dynamic public-private partnerships that strengthen the mining sector¡¯s role in sustainable development.
